The 10% Challenge - can you make it?

Welcome

The 10% Challenge is a campaign to raise awareness about the effect we all have on the environment, and to encourage households, communities, and businesses to reduce their impact by at least 10%.

How?

By pledging to use less energy, conserve water, and reduce waste we can all play our part. Most peoples’ 10% can be achieved by just doing a few very simple things. Calculators in the pledge section of the site will work out approximately how much water and energy you use and how much waste you create. You can then look at the ideas pages to see what simple changes you can make to reduce your impact by 10%.

Over 1,000 people have now pledged to take the 10% Challenge. So far...

  • 623 people have pledged to change 2 light bulbs for energy efficient versions...saving 25 Tons CO2 per year
  • 435 people will take showers instead of baths... saving 7,144,875 litres of water every year.
  • 534 TVs will be switched off instead of being left on "standby"...saving 16 Tons CO2 per year

The winner of the first 10% Challenge prize draw has been made. Find out more about this and other news relating to the 10% challenge on the news pages
